Travis Kelce Reflects on Chiefs' Super Bowl Loss: ‘I’m Kicking Myself

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is opening up about his team's tough Super Bowl loss. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22 on Sunday, and Kelce, visibly emotional after the game, is now confronting the "hard reality" of the defeat. In a preview clip for an upcoming episode of the New Heights podcast he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, the 35-year-old star speaks candidly about the loss.

“It just wasn’t our day,” Kelce says in the video shared on the podcast’s YouTube channel. He admitted he struggled to find momentum throughout the game and expressed regret over some of his decisions on the field, saying, “I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made.”

The Chiefs veteran also took responsibility for not being the "best leader" during the game, admitting that he failed to motivate his teammates as he normally would. “I wasn’t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys, keeping them calm, cool, and collected,” he confessed. “I put a lot of that on myself, being the guy who’s been in the building for 12 years and has seen a lot of football, including a situation like this in the Super Bowl.”

Kelce acknowledged that the loss was a tough pill to swallow, and he shared an emotional moment with his brother, saying, “It’s a hard reality, man.” He fought back tears as he added, “I love my teammates, I love my coaches, Chief Kingdom. I’m sorry for how it ended,” before giving credit to the victorious Eagles.
